New AQI policy

Air quality index chart (from IQair.com)

Due to the historic fires in California, AQI in Reno is spiking to extremely hazardous levels. Washoe county announced yesterday that Reno’s average AQI over a 24 hour period was 250+, which is another record-breaking high. In response to the state of affairs, Aerial Equanimity is implementing a new AQI policy to improve consistency in class scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation. This should help our families and students to better anticipate what will be happening with their aerial lessons on any given day, as the AQI fluctuates.

Reflecting the above chart, we will be implementing the following policy:

IF AQI<100: Classes will be held as normal. Classes may be modifies to limit strenuous activity at higher AQI.

IF 100<AQI<150: Classes will be held as normal, but minutes will be credited for cancellation if any student chooses not to attend due to smoke. Classes will be modified to focus on skills and technique, no cardio.

IF 150<AQI<300: Classes will be relocated to an available community facility, if no indoor facility is available at this time then classes will be canceled.

IF AQI>300: Classes will be canceled. Everyone should be staying indoors as much as possible.

We use data from IQair and will make final determination on class status no fewer than three hours prior to the scheduled start time.

Additionally, all packages have had their expiration dates extended to 60 days to ensure that everyone has ample opportunity to get their minutes in, even with what may be inevitable class cancellations as we arrange community partnerships to facilitate classes indoors.
