Teacher Spotlight: Hanna Walkinshaw

  • 3705 Wagoner Drive Reno, NV 89502 United States (map)

We are excited to introduce the newest addition to our Aerial Equanimity family! An experienced dancer and ballet artist, Hanna Walkinshaw has been seriously pursuing ballet for nearly a decade, though her dreams of dance began at age 5 (with her discovery of the tutu.) Hanna will be leading beginners barre/ballet group classes on Mondays from 6:15pm-7:15pm at our partner facility Acro Enso.

Hanna is currently finishing her final semester at the University of Nevada, Reno where she performs and choreographs in ballet, contemporary, and modern dance techniques. She will graduate with a B.A. in Dance in Spring of this year! In supplement to her interest in dancing as a venue for personal wellness, Hanna is also pursuing an interpreting certification in American Sign Language, with which she aspires to bring her love of dance to an ever more inclusive group of students. What stands out to us most about Hanna is her genuine passion about bringing dance practices to diverse communities across Reno and Sparks.

The concepts we appeal to in Aerial Arts are very similar to concepts in dance, and in movement arts in general. As aerialists we seek the ability to borrow from other genres of movement—to become like the ballerina, or the breakdancer, or the gymnast—only in the air. Because of her unique perspective on movement, Hanna will be an indispensable asset to our students at Aerial Equanimity. We could not be happier that she has joined our team!.
